I hate nazi professors like that guy. He may be a great guy and a good teacher but a person's grade should be determined by one thing alone: i.e. understanding of the material.
Attendance and other ancillary considerations should NEVER determine a person's grade. It is criminal for a professor to withhold an A from a person whom thoroughly understands the material and has proven as much on the exams...
